Fabrice Cuillier, MD

Dept of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hôpital Félix Guyon, rue des Topazes, 97400 Saint-Denis, Reunion Island, France. Ph : 0262 90 55 22.

This is a 31 year old G1,P0 woman scanned at 22 weeks of gestation. Ultrasound revealed oligohydramnios, a male fetus with  bladder distension without ascites and a "keyhole" deformity of the posterior urethra. The right kidney had mild dilatation and the left kidney had moderate dilatation. Note the very different appearance from another case of Posterior urethral valves  earlier in the pregancy.

The patient opted for pregnancy termination at 23 weeks. Catheterization of the urethra was not possible and the diagnosis was confirmed.
