Case report

A 33-year old woman (G2P1) was referred to our unit for the second trimester scan at 21 weeks of gestation.

She was born with isolated cleft lip which was successfully corrected surgically. No other relatives with the cleft lip or palate. Her first baby is healthy without clefting.

Our ultrasound examinartion revealed a female fetus with isolated cleft lip. No other anomalies were detected. Diagnosis was confirmed after birth, isolated cleft lip located on the right side.

The palate was intact (image 4). The intact uvula (equal sign) is seen in image 5.
