Gallstones

Heron Werner, MD.

Clínica de Diagnóstico por Imagem – CDPI, Rio de Janeiro - Brazil.

Case report

The fetal gallstones are usually diagnosed by ultrasound in the third trimester (5:1000 fetuses). They are not associated with aneuploidies and their prognosis is very good (usually completely resolved in first year of life). We present ultrasound images of fetal gallstones at 37 week’s gestation. No other abnormalities were seen.

Images 1, 2: Transverse planes through the fetal abdomen at 37 weeks. Multiple gallstones are visible within the gall bladder.
